Seit der Papstwahl ist Joseph Kardinal Ratzinger eben nicht mehr Kardinal und nicht mehr Joseph Ratzinger, sondern Papst Benedikt XVI.

Pontiff beats Harry Potter

THE writings of Joseph Ratzinger shot to No 1 in Germany’s book charts yesterday, toppling the latest Harry Potter novel.

The German site of the online retailer Amazon.com showed Ratzinger’s books in the top four spots and seven titles in the top ten.

Top of the pile was Salz der Erde (Salt of the Earth), the transcript of a mammoth interview the new Pope gave almost a decade ago. It had not been in the top 100 on Tuesday afternoon.

Sales of the new Pope’s books in the United States also increased sharply on Wednesday, according to Amazon’s main site. Eight of the Pontiff’s works had climbed into the top 20, with Salt of the Earth at No 7. Meanwhile, an American who registered the internet name BenedictXVI.com before the new Pope was chosen said yesterday he had not worked out what to do with it - but was "sure it would be a sin to sell it to a pornographer". Florida resident Rogers Cadenhead registered six domain names earlier this month based on names the new Pope might pick.
